About New Horizons Institute of Counseling
New Horizons Instituteof Counseling is an outreach ministry of the United Brethren In Christ Church, 560 Flomich Street,
Holly Hill, Florida. The Senior Pastor
is Rev. Chuck McKeown. Dr. Pierre J.
Samaan, is the Director of Counseling for this church ministry. The counseling center is located in an office
building away from the church to allow those of different faiths to feel
comfortable utilizing the Christian counseling services.
Christian counseling
is crisis intervention and the strengthening of Christian character and values,
which is Discipleship. The Clinical
Christian/Pastoral Counselors at New Horizons Institute of Counseling are
Ordained ministers and professional Christian Counselors* committed to the
welfare of the Christian. This is an
inter-denominational ministry that accepts referrals from church pastors,
physicians, attorneys, and institutions.
When in Christian
counseling, clients are encouraged to take advantage of their own church
programs. The local church is a support
system with much to offer.
Christian counseling
will help the client move beyond tolerable existence into genuine inner
healing, renewal and wholeness.
Tolerable recovery is the process of getting better. True recovery says, “I made it!” This is when I can look at the source of my
pain and realize it has been replaced with healing peace.
This Christian counseling ministry is founded on
Christ-centered recovery. “The Spirit
of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the
poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the
captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are
oppressed; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord… To comfort all who
mourn, and provide for those who grieve… to bestow on them a crown of beauty
instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of
praise instead of a spirit of despair… The counsel of the Lord will stand
forever.” (Luke
4:18-19; Isaiah 61:1-3; Psalm 33:11).
