Overview

New Horizons Institute of Counseling is an outreach ministry of the United Brethren In Christ Church, 560 Flomich Street, Holly Hill, Florida.  The Senior Pastor is Rev. Chuck McKeown.  Dr. Pierre J. Samaan, is the Director of Counseling for this church ministry.  The counseling center is located in an office building away from the church to allow those of different faiths to feel comfortable utilizing the Christian counseling services.

STATEMENT OF FAITH AND BELIEF

• There is one God, eternally coexistent in three persons; the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
• The Bible is the inspired Word of God and is “profitable for teaching, reproof, correction and training in righteousness.” (2Timothy 3:16)
• Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man, yet without sin.  As God the Son, He came to earth as man, fulfilled all He was sent to accomplish, died on the cross for the sins of the world, and rose from the dead.  He rules today at the right hand of God the Father.
• The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity.  He lives within each true Christian providing the power to obey God’s word.
• The church is made up of all people who believe Jesus Christ died on the cross for their sins, having become partakers of the Divine Nature.
• We acknowledge that Jesus Christ is central to all true healing and freedom.  Apart from Him we can do nothing (John 15:5).
• We embrace the primary call of the church to go forth and proclaim the good news of freedom in Christ to all the world (Matthew 28:19-20), to destroy the works of the evil one (1John 3:8), to bring truth to those held captive by the grip of the kingdom of darkness, and prepare the way for His second coming by making ready His bride (Luke 4:18)
• This ministry is based on the reality of a sovereign God who is able to do “exceedingly abundantly, far beyond whatever we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.” (Ephesians 3:20).  Divine things will happen when we seek to do ministry in God’s power.  Man’s ways are not God’s ways, and man’s ways (of counseling) have not produced what God’s Word says should be produced in the counseling setting.
